- I have been trying to set up MOSAIC from a SLIP connection and have had
- some problems. If anyone could help me with any of the following
- questions, I would greatly appreciate it.
-
- The problem is that I cannot hook up to anything in MOSAIC, although the
- SLIP connection appears to be ok for some other functions, such as
- telw.exe and ftpw.exe (but only at local sites, it seems). I
- consistently get the message:
-
- HTAccess: Error accessing "http://<page address here>"
- "SOCKET: Connection timed out"
-
- What could be the problem?
-
- 1. Could it be the SLIP connection? When I log on, I enter "slip
- <address given as gateway address on login, which changes each time>".
- I follow the instructions for resetting Trumpet Winsock as found in the
- MOSAIC FAQ.
-
- 2. Could it be the Winsock setup? Should "netmask" and "gateway" be set
- to something other thatn "0.0.0.0"? If so, this can only be done by
- editing the INI file, not within the Setup dialog itself.
-
- 3. Should the local default page in the mosaic.ini be set to a local
- page? If so, does anyone know of one for the domain Virginia.EDU?
-
- 4. ????
-
- Help! Thanks ...
